The Flute Al-Bahr is a tribute to the musicality of the ancestral peoples that surround the Mediterranean Sea. “Al-Baḥr [al-Abyaḍ] al-Mutawassiṭ”, or The White Mediterranean Sea in Arabic. The flute has the Hijaz (Hitzaz) scale. The Hijaz scale has other names depending on the context: Spanish Gypsy, Arabic, Raga Jogiya… The Al-Bahr Flute is perfect for creating spontaneous improvisations, with a smooth mid-range transverse embouchure and octave range.

Our flutes are handmade creations crafted one by one with a lot of love. We take care of the bamboos from harvesting, preparation and drying for months. It is a slow and careful process. Each flute that is born has its unique personality. The photos of the flutes are references for you to choose and order your new flute. Due to the wide variety of models and customization possibilities, we require a lead time for delivery:

“Flute Time”.

To create a flute, there is an alchemical consciousness working in the invisible through 4 elements, the craftsman is an interpreter of the process, and when he is integrated into the natural flow of the raw material and participates in each stage of gestation, he develops the subtle art of knowing what each bamboo will be like a flute. The craftsman's intent is shaped by the form and nature of the material. The latent flute awaits the presence of the Being, to manifest what it is from the beginning!

    Instrument beaucoup plus difficile à jouer même après un an de pratique. Peut-être devrais je m'entraîner sur un modèle plus petit.

    En tout cas la manufacture est de très bonne qualité et le son, lorsque j'arrive à en avoir, est magnifique.

    Hello how are you? First of all, congratulations for the beautiful work that is done. Let's go... At the moment the flute in C is the one that touches me the most, by far. However, I saw in your tuning video that you recommend starting with a minor flute for beginners. My hands aren't quena and my arms aren't short, so I don't think that would be a problem. Perhaps my challenge would be the question of breathing, due to the length of the flute. But since I have experience with singing, I believe that this can help me in some way, because I know how to do diaphragmatic breathing. Finally, I would like to ask your opinion to tell me if you think it is "too complicated" to start with the flute major in C already I never played the flute. I like to think that with a genuine will we can find a way for everything, but your opinion will be of great help. Thank you, Gabriel =)

    Answered by admin Hi Gabriel, all right! Thank you for contacting us. Yes, this C-shaped flute is quite large and has holes spaced out, but as it has no anatomical limitations with persistence to pick up the flute and practice blowing, embouchure and scales for at least 10 minutes a day, in a short time the flute reveals itself, but for that it is it takes will and at the same time detachment (without expectations), surrender so that the instrument reveals itself and shows how it is. The first thing is to train the breath to produce sound and the degree of difficulty for this is practically the same for any length of flute, when it is already producing sound is that it will train and adapt the position of the fingers in the holes, in this flute we use the little finger of the right hand on the foot of the flute and the index and middle fingers close the holes with the middle phalanx. The flute in D also has a beautiful sound and I think it would be a good choice too.
