The Al-Bahr Flute is a tribute to the ancestral peoples and cultures surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. "Al-Baḥr [al-Abyaḍ] al-Mutawassiṭ" means The White Mediterranean Sea in Arabic.

The Al-Bahr Flute has the Hijaz (Hitzaz) scale. The Hijaz scale has other names depending on cultural and regional context: Spanish Gypsy, Arabic, Phrygian Dominant, Bhairav...

The Al-Bahr Flute is perfect for creating spontaneous improvisations, with a soft mid-range tone and octave range. The sound of its scale will transport you to epic adventures in the atmosphere of Mystery.

Tunings

The Al-Bahr flute is produced in 4 tunings, with the smallest flute tuned in F (FA), ideal for a first contact. Next we have tunings in E (MI), D (RE) and C (DO). The flutes in D and C are longer in length and have a deeper sound with greater spacing between holes, ideal for those who already have practice with transverse flutes.

BAMBOO

The bamboo selected for these flutes is the same Indian bamboo from the Bansuri of high acoustic quality, without nodes, perfectly cylindrical and with medium to thin walls. The bamboos are shade-dried for 6 months, treated and sealed inside and out with Indian shellac to withstand time and variations in humidity and temperature. Also protection against fungi.

FINISHES

You can choose between 3 types of finishes on the outside of the flute: natural bamboo, mahogany paint, or black walnut paint. All flutes receive non-toxic varnish (Indian shellac) and colored protective threads that can be chosen on the flute page. Choose a finish below and on the flute page you can choose the tuning. We do not produce in quantity, we create the flute for YOU, with full attention to sound quality.
