The Totem Series Native Flute is part of our exclusive Flauta Nativa Ashar Native Flute (Native American Flute) collection. It is a flute with 5 or 6 holes for musical notes that reproduce the minor pentatonic scale. The flute has a whistle and the air is directed to the whistle by an animal-shaped block that represents the spirit of the flute.
We produce Totems Nativas flutes in 8 tunings that contemplate the mid / high range tonalities. With Alto C (DO5) being the smallest and highest pitched flute, A (LA4) being the standard tuning, then in order from shortest length and high pitch to highest length and mid/low tones: G (SOL4), F# (FA# 4), F (FA4), E (MI4), D (RE4) and C (DO4) being the largest flute in length and tonality.
For a first contact with the instrument we recommend tuning C Alto (C5), A (LA4) or G (SOL4). Because they have a smaller length and distance between the holes, which facilitates the practice of fingering.
The bamboo selected for these flutes is of high acoustic quality, with thick thickness. The bamboos are cad in the shade for at least 6 months, treated and sealed to withstand the weather and variations in humidity, temperature and antifungal protection.
The mouthpiece of the NAF Totem Series Flute is made of wood and glued to the bamboo body.
The NAF Totems Series is magnetized with the energy of the Animals through painting with acrylic paint. After painting we applied 3 layers of acrylic varnish and a layer of natural Indian shellac varnish on top. Cad flute is painted manually and has colors inspired by the animal.
