The Pueblo Hopi Flute is a variant of the Anasazi Pueblo flute, a vertical rim-blown flute made of bamboo with a 5-hole scale that allows you to easily play the major pentatonic scale with a range of 2 octaves. Its mouthpiece is similar to the Japanese Shakuhachi flute, which allows you to perform micro-tonal subtleties, blow harmonics derived from the root note, and also play the second octave on all notes. This is a flute inspired by ancestral Amerindian peoples. The Pueblo Hopi flute has a high level of difficulty for a beginner flutist, but the effort is worth it.
The Pueblo Hopi Flute is a tribute to the peoples who lived in the Chaco Canyon region, in northern New Mexico. The site of the ruins was named by the Pueblo Bonito expedition, where some rim-blown flutes were found in excavations carried out in the last decade of the 19th century.
