The Shinobue is a traditional Japanese wind instrument, more specifically a transverse flute made of bamboo. Its soft and melodious sound makes it a fundamental piece in folk music and in various artistic performances in Japan.

We produce the Shinobue style flute in the western tempered system with 7 note holes and 1 wide embouchure hole. Generally, the native tonic of the Shinobue flute is the note produced with the 1st hole open (from bottom to top). And with all note holes closed, the lowest note called “Tsutsune” is produced, which is a distance of 3 semitones below the tonic, which favors alternating between major and minor modes with ease, being the great differential and versatility of this flute. Our Shinobue flute produces basically 2 registers and with experience it is possible to produce up to 3 registers.

Our flutes are handcrafted creations worked one by one with great love. We care for the bamboos from harvesting, preparation, and drying for months. It is a slow and careful process. Each flute that is born has its unique personality. The photos of the flutes are references for you to choose and order your new flute. Due to the wide variety of models and customization possibilities, we need time for delivery:

The “Flute Time”.

For a flute to be born, there is an alchemical consciousness working in the invisible through 4 elements; the artisan is an interpreter of the process, and when integrated into the natural flow of the raw material and participates in each stage of gestation, develops the subtle art of knowing what each bamboo will become as a flute. The intention of the artisan is shaped by the form and nature of the material. The latent flute awaits the presence of the Being to manifest what it has been from the beginning!

If you are looking for an instrument of power and vibrational healing, this is our mission, and time is a value in our favor, necessary for the manifestation of an instrument with a Soul.
