The Hummingbird symbolizes the pleasure of life and the lightness of being. Those who have the hummingbird as a totem are invited to enjoy the sweetness of life, eliminating negativity wherever it may be and fully expressing love in their daily activities. This fascinating bird is capable of the most incredible feats, despite its small size, such as traveling great distances or being able to fly backwards. Through affinity with the hummingbird, those who have this bird as a totem may be encouraged to develop their ability to adapt and be flexible, maintaining a playful and optimistic perspective. In some native cultures, the hummingbird is also associated with immortality with the warrior's soul and as a messenger of the Spirit.

Tunings

The Native Flute Hummingbird is part of our exclusive Ashar Native Flute collection in NAF (Native American Flute) style, a flute with 5 or 6 holes of musical notes that reproduce the minor pentatonic scale. The flute has a whistle and the air is directed to the whistle by an animal-shaped block that represents the spirit of the flute.

We produce the Native Hummingbird flute in 7 tunings that cover the mid-range / high-range tonalities. A (LA4) is the standard tuning of shortest length, followed by the tonalities: G, F#, F, E, D and C, with C being the largest flute in length and tonality.

For a first contact with the instrument, we recommend tuning A or G as they are smaller flutes, and F# as it is the classic tuning of the native flute.

BAMBOO

The bamboo selected for these flutes is of high acoustic quality, with thick wall. The bamboos are dried in the shade for at least 6 months, treated and sealed to withstand weather and variations in humidity, temperature, and antifungal protection.

MOUTHPIECE

The mouthpiece of the NAF Hummingbird Flute is made of cedar or peroba wood and glued onto the bamboo body.

FINISHES

The NAF Hummingbird Series is imbued with the energy of hummingbirds through painting with acrylic paint. After painting, we apply 3 layers of acrylic varnish and one layer of natural Indian shellac varnish on top. Each flute is hand-painted and has colors inspired by different hummingbird species.
